As we become older, our body, our metabolism and our nutritional needs change.
Physiological changes associated with aging alter processes such as mastication, digestion and nutrient absorption. That is why, it can change the efficiency of our body to use the nutrients supplied by our diet. Moreover, the physical difficulty to move or make daily activities such as cooking or shopping, create a burdensome environment for some older people which can cause them to suffer different kinds of nutritional shortage. The lack of minerals can produce a wide range of general, unspecific but important symptoms such as lack of concentration, discomfort, fatigue and weakness, depending on which minerals we are lacking and the severity of this deficiency. Older people usually suffer from many other pathologic situations; this means that for them the discomfort feeling can be even more intense.
